Area Loses 4,824 Families With 'Cav'
Columbus and the surrounding areas will lose almost 5,000 families of men in the 1st Cavalry Division, which is headed to war in Viet Nam, Maj. Gen. Harry W.O. Kinnard, division commander, told the Columbus Real Estate Board Monday.
The Tri-Rivers Development Assn., holding its quarterly meeting in southern Russell County Monday afternoon, pledge to use its political influence in securing the construction of a much needed bridge at Cottonton across the Chattahoochee River.
Alabama Selective Service officials announced Monday that all registrants must "clear up their draft status at once or face immediate induction and-or legal action."
State Director Glenn Curlee said: "With the fast-changing world situation, it is of vital importance - both to the registrant and to us - that we have the correct information."
