Both Columbus State basketball teams received bids to the NCAA Division II tournament Sunday night.
The Lady Cougars (24-5) will be the third seed in the women’s Southeast Regional, which is being hosted for the second straight year by top seed Limestone.
The Lady Cougars will face No. 6 seed Wingate (21-8) on Friday at noon.
In other first-round games, No. 2 seed Lander will face No. 7 seed Francis Marion at 2:30 p.m., No. 1 seed Limestone vs. No. 8 Augusta and No. 4 Clayton State vs. No. 5 Anderson.
The second round will be held Saturday with the finals on Monday.
The eight regional winners will advance to the Elite Eight in Sioux Falls, S.D.
CSU will be making its ninth trip to the NCAA tournament and third straight.
Last year, the Lady Cougars beat Carson-Newman in the opening round before losing to Anderson.
The Cougars (21-7) will play in the Southeast Regional as the No. 5 seed. They will play No. 4 seed Queens (24-6) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Game times have not yet been announced.
Lincoln Memorial (Harrogate, Tenn.) is the top seed and the host for the second straight year. It will face No. 8 seed Lander at 5 p.m.
No. 2 King will play No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne at 2;30 p.m. and No. 3 Wingate will play No. 6 Montevallo at noon.
The second round will be held Sunday with the regional final on Tuesday.
This will be CSU’s 12th trip to the NCAA tournament and the second straight. It is the third NCAA bid for the Cougars under coach Robert Moore.
Last season, the Cougars lost in the first round to UNC Pembroke.
The winners of each regional advance to the Elite Eight in Frisco, Texas, March 23-26.
