I recently had the occasion to read a very descriptive article that appeared in the Fort Benning newspaper. It described how the new hospital that is to be built at Fort Benning will look when completed. It sounds like it is going to be a beautiful structure, not to mention how beautiful the surrounding grounds will look.
This new hospital will not only benefit the soldiers and families who live on Fort Benning; it will become an economic asset to all the counties that surround the reservation area.
In this same article, it was mentioned that the fate of Martin Army Community Hospital has not been decided as of yet. Many have suggested, and I agree, that it should be donated to the Veterans Administration to be used as a veterans medical facility. By doing so, it would surely become a favorable economic factor that would greatly benefit the areas for many miles around the military reservation and beyond. The security factor could be resolved within the present framework.
Over the years, thousands of people who still live in the counties that surround the military reservation were cared for or their children were born in that old hospital. It would be a terrible waste to allow the historic building to become a victim of the wrecking ball.

Desperately hoping
When I became disabled, my wife and I lost our health insurance. Luckily I have Medicare, but even it does not cover everything.
Now, she has no insurance and was denied coverage by, according to one insurance broker, every insurance company he did business with. We are at risk of financial disaster should she become ill. Health care reform is our only hope.
