The Spanish term for “roller coaster,” in case you’re wondering, is “montaña rusa.”
You don’t have to worry about mastering your Berlitz dictionary prior to attending Fiesta Columbus, however.
A proverbial cast-iron stomach could be more important.
A smaller version of the Greater Columbus Fair, the festival includes rides, games, attractions and food. It’s at the Columbus Civic Center and runs Thursday through Sunday.
Thursday, an opening night special offers $2 admission for both kids and adults.
Guests of all ages will likely want to test their courage — and screaming power — on the event’s rides, traditional fair offerings that come to Columbus courtesy of North American Midway Entertainment.
You can buy individual ride tickets daily, or opt for an unlimited-ride wristband. The $20 wristbands will be available every day of the fair on the festival’s midway.
Expect attractions that include not only the traditional merry-go-round and Ferris wheel, but also stuff like the Fireball, a pendulum-like attraction that takes its brave riders up 90 feet in the air.
The event has a multicultural flair and coincides (almost) with Cinco de Mayo.
