Get out your ding-a-ling
As in your sleigh bells ring-a-ling, ding-a-ling-a-ling, too, pervie. It’s less than a week before Christmas and it’s time to do all those last minute, Christmasy things. Get to it.
Friday night, grab the kids, the wife and spend a night away from “A Very Brady Christmas” by making some memories of your own. Check out the holiday lights featured in Thursday’s To-Do section by printing out the map available at ledger-enquirer.com. My favorite – get on Vultee Drive and just keep going.
Saturday, pretend that you’ve been nice all year and that you’re just wrapping up 12 months of doing good by hitting the Pine Mountain Trail Association Workday at 10 a.m. at FDR State Park. Meet in the Rocky Point Parking lot.
And Sunday is pretty much it if you’re trying to wrap up Christmas shopping. You might have time during the work week, but I doubt it, so make sure you visit Columbus Park Crossing for all you last-minute needs.
I suggest the Whittlesey Wal-Mart, because what can’t you find there and who doesn’t like Wal-Mart?
Partying with big men in suits
Kick off your weekend by testing claims that you're never too old to enjoy Christmas. That means hitting up Peachtree Mall, 3131 Manchester Expressway, to see Santa.
Since you've moved beyond requesting items that will poke your eyes out, you can embrace Santa's timeless appeal. Just don't expect him to honor your requests for extra cuddle time.
The jolly fat man is at the mall 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Call 706-327-1598.
Saturday night, head to downtown hot spot Daileys, 1039 Broadway, for a meet and greet with the Columbus Cottonmouths. It starts directly after the hockey team's 7:30 p.m. game. You'll get in free with a ticket from the game, otherwise cover is $5.
There's no promise the guys will give you as much lap time as Santa, but the night will at least reassure you that sweaty male athletes aren't confined to 2009 wall calendars. Call 706-320-3353.
While you're downtown, pop inside The Roadhouse, 1047 Broadway, and savor your last weekend to use Christmas-themed pickup lines.
My favorite? "Don't be surprised if a big fat man tries to kidnap you tonight, because I told Santa that all I wanted for Christmas was you."
