A nice spot of tea back at the Marriott
Think you’re too old to flash devil signs and stick your tongue out luridly while choking on cheap beer?
You’re never too old to channel your inner Ozzy, which is why you should scuttle down to The Roadhouse, 1047 Broadway, Friday night for Blizzard of Ozzy, the Ozzy Osbourne tribute band. It’s $5 to get in for the 10:30 p.m. show.
Keep the inner rebel alive on Saturday by crashing the Springer Opera House’s block party. It’s 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Springer, 103 10th St. While you won’t really be crashing it, you can still pretend, since people are encouraged to dress up in an 80’s theme. You don’t even have to change your clothes from the previous night – or shower, even.
Return to your dull, black-and-white life on Sunday, when you’ll be forced to feed the cat and do some laundry. Try to ease back into the concept of working for a living by having a nice spot of tea (or something a little stronger) at the downtown Marriott, 800 Front Ave. Ozzy would approve.
Freak on a leash
Not brave enough to don guyliner with Alan Friday? Opt for the '80s party at Flip Flops, 1111 Broadway, instead. The local rockers from Classic Addict will entertain. Wear a cool '80s getup and you won't have to pay a cover. Otherwise, it's $5 after 10 p.m. Call me if you need to borrow a scrunchie.
Saturday, enjoy the great outdoors by taking your favorite four-legged friend to Woofstock 2009. The music-filled event is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. CST in Auburn's Kiesel Park, 520 Chadwick Lane. The free event includes demonstrations, agility courses, dog washes and more. Dogs must be leashed.
Take a quick nap when you get home, then hit up the final midnight performance of "The Rocky Horror Show." It's midnight Saturday at the International Marketplace, 318 10th Avenue at Victory Drive. Tickets are $15 and $18.
