Winterfest2009 begins Friday at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. This will be the fourth annual visual and performing arts festival.
“We’ll have snow and a marching band,” said Darlene Hughes Kittrell, RiverCenter’s marking manager. “The most important thing at that time is you can register to win some shopping sprees within winterfest2009. There will be free entertainment in the lobby and two free concerts by the United States Infantry Band at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.”
A ticketed event is Bela Fleck and the Flecktones’ Christmas concert Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Bill Heard Theatre.
Joining the Flecktones are Victor Lemonte Wooten, Future Man and Jeff Coffin. Tickets are $36-$49.
Never miss a local story.
Pianist Jim Brickman’s “Beautiful World Christmas Tour” is also part of winterfest.
“It’s just a fun weekend,” Kittrell said. “There is no actual admission to winterfest2009. There will be glass, jewelry, paintings and woodwork.”
Winterfest2009 is 5-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
