Everyone needs an excuse to party.
Don’t believe us? Ask the more than 50 Disney characters who will come to town when Disney On Ice presents “Let’s Celebrate!”
The show, which begins its four-day run at the Columbus Civic Center tonight, focuses on holidays and celebrations from around the world.
Thanks to Mickey Mouse’s Digital Global Destinator, audience members will enjoy eye-catching scenery while traveling to places like China and Brazil.
Never miss a local story.
Cobweb images creep over the ice during a Halloween scene, an illuminated cherry blossom tree anchors a Japanese festival, snow decorates a Winter Wonderland party and much more.
As usual, expect a wide assortment of colorful costumes. Look for the vibrantly decorated headpieces during the Brazilian Carnival.
The cast includes classic Disney figures, as well as contemporary characters like Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog,” released in 2009. Tiana’s scene focuses on a New Orleans Mardi Gras party with jazz music and choreography.
The Mardi Gras scene and other parties are enhanced with a large projection screen that displays video images — from Bourbon Street to fluffy pink clouds during Valentine’s Day — throughout the show.
Choreography in “Let’s Celebrate” will resurrect memories of many of your favorite Disney films.
One portion of the show includes Sorcerer Mickey’s classic broom scene, complete with special effects and 15 skaters in broom costumes.
With that kind of magic, you’ll leave craving an after-party.
