The 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards show, hosted by Jane Lynch, had several surprises. Julie Bowen of "Modern Family" won best supporting actress in a comedy over heavily favored funny lady Betty White, "Hot in Cleveland." And Bowen's show husband Ty Burrell beat favorite Chris Colfer, "Glee." Kyle Chandler ("Friday Night Lights") won best actor in a drama over Jon Hamm, "Mad Men," and Steve Buscemi "Boardwalk Empire." Supporting actress in a drama series was given to Margo Martindale, "Justified," and Melissa McCarthy ("Mike & Molly") won top honors for lead actress in a comedy. PBS Masterpiece Theater series "Downton Abbey" took most of the miniseries awards including best miniseries over the highly acclaimed "Mildred Pierce."
