A RadarOnline report suggesting Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron have broken up is "completely false," Webb's publicist said Friday.
"It's completely false and RadarOnline was irresponsible in their reporting," Steve Webster of CMPR, a Los Angeles-based public relations agency, said in a phone interview.
What's the status of Webb and McCarron's relationship?
"They're totally fine," Webster said. "She's busy working and he's busy working on the No. 1 team in the country."
RadarOnline on Friday morning published a report suggesting a breakup. It quoted Leslie Webb, Katherine's mother, as confirming the split. Here's how the quote appears in the RadarOnline report: "Yes [they've broken up]. Katherine’s just trying to stay real busy."
Later, RadarOnline published an update at the bottom of the story that quotes Katherine Webb's rep denying the breakup.
Webb refuted the news on Twitter , saying, RadarOnline "has called and harassed my family at their house multiple times. Their story is FALSE. Thank you." She has since deleted the tweet.
Webster said the website obtained Leslie Webb's quote through "trick questioning." He said "there's no reason for us to lie" about the status of the couple's relationship.
RadarOnline cited news that the couple unfollowed each other on Twitter as evidence pointing to a breakup. "I have no idea about that at all," Webster said when asked about the couple's activity on Twitter.
Webb was raised in the Columbus-Phenix City area and graduated from Auburn University. She entered the national spotlight when she watched her boyfriend, starting quarterback McCarron, play for the University of Alabama in the Jan. 7 BCS National Championship. During the game, ESPN’s camera turned to Webb and sportscaster Brent Musburger gave some remarks admiring her beauty.
Since then, she gained a deluge of Twitter followers, appeared in the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and covered the Super Bowl for "Inside Edition." She also competed on "Splash," a celebrity diving competition.
Webb first confirmed her relationship with McCarron to the Ledger-Enquirer in late December 2012.
