TIMOTHY S. MESCON Current job: Dean of the Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University in metro Atlanta, 1990-present. He also holds the Tony and Jack Dinos Eminent Scholar Chair at Kennesaw State.

Age: 53

Previous employment: Arizona State University, faculty, 1979-82; University of Miami (Fla.), faculty, 1982-87; dean of Perdue School of Business at Salisbury (Md.) University, 1987-90. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Kingston University (U.K.) School of Business and Law. Additionally, Mescon has served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Aston in Birmingham, England, and Nanjing University in China and as a Visiting Fellow at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Education: He holds a bachelor's degree from Tulane University, 1975; MBA from Southern Methodist University, 1976; and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, 1979.

Accomplishments: The 2008 edition of Princeton Review named the Coles College one of the best business schools in the nation. The executive MBA program, among the largest in the U.S., was ranked third in the nation in e-business and 10th in teamwork by Business Week. Mescon is the author of more than 200 articles and cases and has co-authored three books, including "Cases in Strategic Management: An Industry Approach" and "Showing Up for Work and Other Keys to Business Success." He was appointed by Mayor Shirley Franklin to the Homeless Commission, where he chairs the workforce development task force. He has been reappointed to a six-year term as a director for the Metropolitan Atlanta United Way, where he serves on the nominating/board development committee and chairs the finance committee.

Personal: He is an Atlanta native; his wife, Lauren, is an attorney and Savannah native. They have four children attending colleges and universities throughout the country.
