Columbus Police: Man kicks out window of patrol car

Columbus police say a man kicked out a window of a police car after being taken into custody.

Arrested and charged with interference with government property was 37-year-old Trevis Sistrunk  of Columbus.

According to the police report, it was Friday that officers were sent to the intersection of Broadway and 12th Street about an individual  causing a disturbance.

When officers arrived at 9:50 p.m. they saw a man matching the description reported by dispatch. He was sitting on the sidewalk drinking out of a beer can. Police  saw him throw the can into a nearby bush.

The report says officers could not get Sistrunk to answer any questions and his words were slurred.

Sistrunk was handcuffed and taken into custody for consuming alcoholic beverages in public. Two cans of beer were found in his pockets.

The report says Sistrunk was in the back of the patrol car with a lap bar across his lap. When police went to retrieve his bicycle, he began to kick the back driver side window until the top and sides of the window had separated from the door frame.

Damage to the vehicle is estimated to be $600.
