A historic marker was unveiled Friday in front of Cary Hall on the Auburn University campus.
The building named for Auburn's first veterinary dean served as Auburn's veterinary building from 1939-1970. During that time, more than 2,100 future veterinarians attended class there.
Cary Hall was named the state veterinarian in 1907 by the Alabama State Legislature.
