Chikezie, the 22-year-old airport security inspector from Inglewood, Calif., was sent packing on "American Idol" Wednesday night.

Viewers voted him off after Tuesday's shaky rendition of Luther Vandross' "If Only For One Night." Judge Simon Cowell called it cheesy. Chikezie, formerly Chikezie Eze, struggled sustaining a fan base from the beginning, but gained some momentum with two consecutive weeks of high-energy bluegrass performances.

He was joined in Wednesday's bottom three by Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado, who had the second-lowest vote tally.
