$3.62 per gallon: Another record gas high for Columbus

After a weeklong reprieve, gasoline prices rose to yet another all-time high today in Columbus.

The average price of regular unleaded hit $3.622 locally, up from $3.613 on Wednesday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. They last reached a record high here May 1, but had steadied since then.

A month ago, pump prices were nearly $3.27 per gallon in Columbus. They were $2.87 per gallon on May 8 a year ago.

Atlanta and Athens had the highest average price today in Georgia at $3.64 per gallon, both records for those cities.

The state's lowest average can be found in Augusta at just under $3.54 per gallon.

Diesel fuel prices also spiked higher today in Columbus to an all-time high of $4.22 per gallon. Nationally, diesel is at $4.25 per gallon.

The U.S. average for regular unleaded gas today is nearly $3.65 per gallon, a record, AAA reported. That's up from just under $3.62 the day before.
