Chamber hosts Commission candidates forum Wednesday

The Phenix City-Russell County Chamber of Commerce will hold a candidate forum for Russell County Commission candidates at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday May 14, 2008 at the Central Activity Center, 1500 14th St. in Phenix City. The forum will be the program for the chamber’s monthly Biscuits and Business breakfast meeting. The forum moderator will be Dallas Cox, A-Com Telephone Company.

Commission Districts 4, 5, 6 and 7 will be decided in the June 3 Primary Election. The candidates are: District 4 — incumbent Johnnie C. Robinson, Ronnie Reed, Isaiah Sumbry, and Jerome Turner; District 5 — incumbent Cattie Epps and Henry Goshay; District 6 — incumbent Mervin Dudley, Jimmy Adams and Arthur "Buster" Sanders; District 7 — incumbent J.D. Upshaw, R.J. Schweiger, Larry Screws. District 1 Commissioner Gentry Lee has been elected with no opposition. The District 2 race between incumbent Gordon Cox (R) and Tillman Pugh (D) and District 3 race between incumbent Peggy Martin and Cecil "Woody" McLemore will be decided during the Nov. 4 General Election.
