A Columbus man accused of stabbing someone was arrested Saturday night, police said.
Edward Watkins, 51, was charged with aggravated assault around 9 p.m., jail records show. Police said he was sleeping on steps outside a Fifth Avenue apartment when a 32-year-old man went out to get some fresh air.
Watkins, who police said was sleeping because he was drunk, woke up and began yelling at the other man for no reason. He then pulled a knife and stabbed the man in his left arm, reports state.
Watkins told officers that while he doesn’t like the other man, he didn’t stab him. The man had stabbed himself, police said Watkins told officers.
