A 25-year-old man was shot in the arm as he tried to help a stranger after the Saturday fireworks show downtown, Columbus police said.
The man saw a woman and a man arguing near 14th Street and Broadway around 10 p.m., just after the fireworks had stopped, said Lt. Steve Cox. When he tried to intervene, the other man pulled a gun and shot him in the left arm, the lieutenant added.
The shooter and the woman he was arguing with fled, Cox said.
The injured man went to The Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Police are investigating the shooting.
