Miss Georgia 2009 Emily Cook was happy with her formal crowning ceremony Sunday, even if it lacked an element of surprise.
"Just the fact that I'm here is a little unbelievable," said Cook, after being crowned by former Miss Georgia Chasity Hardman inside Columbus State University's Cunningham Center.
It's been a week since Cook, Miss Cobb County, accepted the state title after Miss Capital City Kristina Higgins stepped down less than 24 hours after being named Miss Georgia.
Higgins suggested her duties as a middle school teacher could interfere with the time commitment that comes with being Miss Georgia.
