Harris County's newest school, Creekside School, will receive a $2,500 technology grant from the Diverse Power Foundation’s Operation Round Up, according to the system's Web site.
Dan Lomax, the principal at Creekside, said the grant will allow students to produce an in-school newscast that will promote current events, instructional lessons and student achievements.
The grant was written by Mindy Thomas, a literacy lab teacher at Creekside.
Creekside will open this fall and house students in fifth and sixth grade.
