A Lanett, Ala., man was arrested early Thursday morning after struggling with a police officer, according to a LaGrange police department press release.
Earnest Lymon, 49, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, driving on a suspended driver's license and obstruction. The charges stem from an incident that occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 29.
According to the release, a LaGrange police officer stopped Lymon's 1996 Nissan Sentra near the intersection of Borton Street and Merrywood Drive in LaGrange, after noticing that the car had an inoperative brake light.
The officer determined that Lymon had no valid driver's license, but only an Alabama-issued ID card. Lymon's driver's license was later determined to be suspended by the state.
As the officer was trying to arrest Lymon for driving on a suspended license, there was a physical struggle and Lymon fled the scene on foot. An unidentified passenger in the vehicle also fled on foot.
Lymon was later located during a search of the area, with the assistance of one of the police canine units.
The officer was taken to the West Georgia Medical Center, where he was treated and released for the injuries he sustained in the struggle.
