Grammy-winning duo the Indigo Girls will be playing during this year's SOA Watch protest outside the gates of Fort Benning.
Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, better known as the folk/rock singers/song writers behind the Indigo Girls, will take the stage at 9:40 a.m. Sunday.
As always, the demonstration will take place the weekend before Thanksgiving, from Nov. 20-21. Historically, most of the action happens on Saturday and Sunday, when hordes of demonstrators assemble outside the Army post’s Benning Boulevard gate.
“We expect tens of thousands to come,” said Eric LeCompte, of SOA Watch. “We already have a lot more hotels that are filled up in the area and in particular the downtown area.”
Demonstrators planning to attend the 20th annual SOA Watch protest are invited to participate in a free tour of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Tours will be held at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Busses will pick up and drop off visitors at the South Lumpkin Road gate.
