The Muscogee County Adult Education program is seeking contributions for a scholarship fund to help students who teachers believe are qualified to take an examination for a GED diploma but are not financially able to pay the $95 fee.

"Gaining this diploma is a tremendous step and one that opens doors of opportunity for employment, higher salaries and additional education," stated Isaiah Hugley in a recent letter to the newspaper. "Currently there are approximately 2,000 students enrolled in adult education programs. We anticipate a minimum of 400 students to earn their GED diplomas each year."

The $95 fee to take the exam is an increase of $30 from the fee in effect before July.

Contributions should be sent made payable to Muscogee County Adult Education, 514 Morris Road, Columbus, Ga. 31906 and mark designated for that purpose.
