A couple of notable business grand openings are scheduled for Thursday in Columbus.
The new T.J. Maxx store at Cross Country Plaza opened its doors 8 a.m. It’s among three dozen new outlets the chain has either opened recently or is slated to open across the U.S. in the next few weeks.
T.J. Maxx relocated from its former 29,903-square-foot location at Fountain Square shopping center on Macon Road to the renovated Cross Country farther west on Macon Road. The clothing retailer also has a store at Columbus Park Crossing. The new store will take up 25,000 square feet of space formerly occupied by a Publix supermarket, which moved last December to an adjacent 54,340-square-foot spot in the center.
Kia Autosport, meanwhile, was set to have the grand opening for its new dealership at 7041 Whittlesey Blvd., in the Columbus Park Crossing development, starting at 11 a.m. today. Door prizes and giveaways are planned, said general manager Ed Braun.
Never miss a local story.
The new 35,000-square-foot dealership, with 25 service bays, had a soft opening a few weeks ago to get everything up and running smoothly. It replaces the 1801 Box Road facility, which will remain open, peddling used vehicles and offering additional service facilities for local Kia customers.
