Bojangles’ is bringing its “famous chicken ’n biscuits” to a second location in Columbus, an outparcel fronting the Walmart Supercenter on Airport Thruway.
“They’re going to build another store similar to the store that was built on Schomburg Road,” said Pete Hart, an associate broker and co-owner of Jordan Hart Commercial Services in Columbus.
“The opening is scheduled for the 1st of December,” he said. “That obviously will be subject to weather as the rain has caused a lot of difficulty over the last month or so.”
The chain closed on the property Monday, with Hart saying the Airport Thruway store is the second of four or five locations planned for the Columbus-Phenix City market.
Bojangles’ first restaurant opened its doors in March at 7660 Schomburg Road. That 3,808-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru window seats 72 diners, with Wi-Fi and two flat-screen televisions as amenities.
The Columbus market is being franchised by Raleigh, N.C.-based 3HS LLC, a company comprised of a father, Robbie Hill Jr., and his three daughters — Cortney Hill Stallings, Kimberly Hill Hayden and Elizabeth Hill Hadley.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Bojangles’ is known for its fried chicken, biscuits, sandwiches and an assortment of side orders.
The fast-food company was founded in 1977 and has grown to about 540 locations in 10 states and the District of Columbia, with a couple of international outlets, according to its website.
The site touts the restaurant chain’s “made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits; specially seasoned, never frozen fried chicken; Legendary Iced Tea, steeped the old-fashioned way; and a variety of flavorful fixins” that include dirty rice and Cajun pintos. It serves breakfast all day.
