Latonya Wright, from nearby Lumpkin, Ga., has graduated from Darton State College's Nursing Division in Albany, Ga.
Wright earned an associates of science degree and took part in the traditional Nurse Pinning Ceremony at Cavalier Arena. She was among more than 50 nursing graduates and is now eligible to take the licensing examination to become a registered nurse.
Darton State College's nursing program has graduated more than 2,700 nurses since opening its doors in 1966, the school said, many of them working in southwest Georgia.

Columbus attorneys appointed to Young Lawyers Division board
Two Columbus attorneys have been appointed by Sharri Edenfield, president of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the State Bar of Georgia, to serve on the division's board of directors.
Tremaine "Teddy" Reese and Amy C. Walters will assist in promoting Edenfield's initiatives for the year, which include focusing on service to military veterans, leadership development in YLD members and evaluating justice issues.
Reese of the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law and Justice will serve as a director of American Bar Association (ABA) involvement. He earned his law degree from Florida A&M University College of Law in 2012 and serves on the ABA task force evaluating the future of legal education.
Walters of Hagler, Jackson and Walters will serve as a director of affiliate outreach. Her firm's practice areas include criminal defense, domestic relations, personal injury, probate and workers' compensation. She earned her law degree from Loyola University School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2004.
The Young Lawyers Division has more than 25 committees for an array of projects and programs. Through the years, it has won several American Bar Association awards for its projects and publications, the Georgia Bar said.
Acme Brick honors employees with service awards
Acme Brick Co. presented service pins to six employees at its Columbus sales office at a luncheon Thursday.
Acme Brick executives Dennis Knautz, president and CEO, and Bill Lemond, senior vice president of sales, were scheduled to attend.
Receiving pins were Darrell Brown and Jenna Yates (two years), Stacey Bryson and Heather Williams (five years), Michael Overby (10 years) and Richard Cox (20 years).
