Digital conference offers tips for Chattahoochee Valley nonprofits
Nonprofit organizations looking to promote their services in the digital age may learn a few tricks at a conference organized by the Community Foundation of the Chattahoochee Valley.
The event, titled “Telling Your Story: Promoting Your Nonprofit Electronically for Georgia Gives Day and Everyday,” will be held Monday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Columbus State University Cunningham Conference Center, 3100 Gentian Blvd.
The keynote speaker will be Kivi Leroux Miller, president of NonprofitMarketingGuide.com and an award-winning author.
Her books include “The Nonprofit Marketing Guide: High-Impact, Low-Cost Ways to Build Support for Your Good Cause” and “Content Marketing for Nonprofits: A Communications Map for Engaging Your Community, Becoming a Favorite Cause, and Raising More Money.”
Miranda Austin of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, Danica Kombol of Everywhere Agency, and Sandy Ellingson of Social Strategist will also speak at the conference.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer these national-profile speakers as a resource to our community’s nonprofit partners,” said Betsy Covington, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “We look for ways to leverage the work of our community’s nonprofits in ways that maximize grant-making dollars, and helping them learn to tell their stories better is a great way to help them better connect their work with the community.”
The conference is being held as a precursor to Georgia Gives Day on Nov. 12, which allows people across Georgia to raise as much money as possible for nonprofits in 24 hours. Topics for the conference will include: “Making Your Georgia Gives Day Campaign Unique,” “Leveraging Matching Funds for Georgia Gives Day,” “Social Media Strategy,” “Measuring Digital Effectiveness,” “Social Media Best Practices” and “Digital Storytelling.”
The event is sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Chattahoochee Valley Fair Fund, according to a news release. Attendance is free and open to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the Chattahoochee Valley. Each organization may register up to two participants, including staff or board members. Space is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
