Many of you have heard Trees Columbus and Keep Columbus Beautiful talk about how yard trimmings in Columbus are composted and used for urban forestry and beautification projects. You know that space is limited in our municipal solid waste landfills, and composting and recycling are vital to our community’s future. Rep. Debbie Buckner warned at the recent Columbus town hall meeting that we don’t want to live in the shadow of “Mount Trashmore,” and HB 1059 is a step in the wrong direction.
