Creek Indian Meeting
There will be a general meeting for the Ma-Chis Lower Creek` Indian Tribe of America on Saturday. Topics will be low-income home energy program summer cooling and 2018 plans, community service block grant, scholarships, WIA Pow Wow, a new program for rental housing and guest speakers. Glow-K 5K Run
This is a glow-in-the-dark 5K run scheduled for Saturday on the CSU campus. The race will start at 9 p.m. Runners should show up at least 30 minutes prior to complete registration and prepare for the race. Runners and those in attendance should wear bright, neon-colored clothing and glow-in-the-dark accessories. Glow lights will illuminate the course as participants progress through the run. The event will benefit the Fort Benning Wounded Warrior Association, an organizer that assists and raises awareness for injured service members. Glow-K has raised over 35K in the past three years. Registration is $20 which includes t-shirt, race bib, glow sticks, and water. The finish line will include a large pavilion where participants can enjoy loud Rave-style music performed live by a DJ with bright, neon and glow-in-the-dark lights. Bring a Friend Event
Virginia College in Columbus will host a Bring a Friend Event at the campus at 5601 Veterans Parkway. The community is invited to experience a day in the life of a Virginia College student. There will be campus tours, program demonstrations, career planning sessions, free manicures, face painting, drawings and a meet-and-greet-reception with refreshments.
Irish Strings on Broadway
The Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus Summer String Camp students will be performing music they have learned in camp all week on Saturday. The music students have learned from professional music instructors and educators. There is no fee to attend. The event is at 1:30 p.m. at the RiverCenter. AMC is hosting its Summer Movie Camp where every Monday and Wednesday you can see all of your favorite kid-friendly films for 9 weeks. Child tickets are $4 and includes a KidsPack of great AMC snacks. The schedule is:

District 3 Public Meetings
Phenix City District 3 Council Member Arthur L. Day, Jr. will hold public meetings for the residents of District 3, entitled Let’s Talk. The meetings will be an open forum to provide the residents of District 3 an opportunity to discuss issues in District 3 and the community that are of concern to them. The monthly meeting will be 9 a.m.-noon June 17 at the 5th Street South Police Precinct, 507 5th St. South. Meetings will be held the third Saturday of each month through April 2017.
