Ethan Moss hit a two-run walk-off home in the bottom of the sixth and final inning as Northern Little League 9-11 year old team won the Georgia State Little League baseball championship 14-13 over Smyrna on Saturday.
“It was great, just unbelievable,” said John Lawson, the league president.
And Lawson said there was another big blow too.
“Carson Ward hit a grand slam early in the game. We needed that.” he said
Never miss a local story.
Northern’s 8-10 year-old boys team had already won a state baseball title. Two softball teams had already claimed crowns.
“We are very proud of our athletes and we are not through, yet,” Lawson said.
Northern trailed most of the game Saturday.
“We just never gave up,” Lawson said.
The team will play in the Tournament of State Champions in Greenville, N.C.
District 8 of which Northern is a member, has had softball teams from Pioneer League and Harris County also win championships.
“It has been a very good year,” said Richard Bryant administrator for District 8.
