Wild Leap Brew Co., a brand new craft beer company in LaGrange, Ga., has been selling their beer around the region for the last five months but has yet to break ground in the Columbus scene.
That changes this Friday, when Wild Leap will host a launch party bar crawl through downtown Columbus.
“We reached out to a number of different businesses. For $5, everyone gets an exclusive Wild Leap beer stein and access to the five venues with no cover, $5 pints and of course, a map and challenge card that will guide them place to place,” said Rob Goldstein, co-founder and chief marketing officer of Wild Leap. “We consider Columbus our second home, and we are the closest brewery to Columbus, us and Omaha are at about a 1-mile difference in distance. We would love to be one of Columbus’s local breweries.”
Participating venues are Nonic Bar & Kitchen, 11th and Bay Southern Table, Smoke Bourbon and BBQ, Scruffy Murphy’s Irish Pub and The Loft. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the corner of 11th Street and Broadway. Tickets can be purchased at www.columbuslaunch.com.
Never miss a local story.
Wild Leap has two types of beer on the market so far — the Local Gold Blonde Ale (ABV 5.4 percent) and Chance IPA (ABV 5.6 percent).
Goldstein said he discovered LaGrange almost by accident after helping the city organize a beer festival.
“We took a wild leap, and spent $60,000 of our own money to produce the first LaGrange beer festival in 2015. We were really humbled by the way the community embraced us, and we fell in love with the town. So we looked at each other and said, we should be the ones to bring craft beer to LaGrange.”
Now, after contracting the brewing to a third-party for the last year, Wild Leap is opening their newly constructed brewery in September. After that, Goldstein says, he hopes to start seeing Wild Leap products in restaurants and grocery stores all over.
“The whole philosophy for us is, whether its your career, your love life, or whatever, life is about taking wild leaps, following your passions, and I think that’s what people can relate to.”
