Juan Andres Diez and Zachary Lendzian, both students at Florida International University, returned to school Monday and honored the victims from the bridge collapse with a moment of silence near the school's Graham Center.
Students, professors and staff gathered near Graham Center at Florida International University on Monday to honor the victims of the bridge collapse by holding a moment of silence at 1:47 p.m. symbolizing the time when the accident took place.
Detectives are investigating a burglary that occurred on February 8, 2018, at 2324 S.W. 9th Street. According to detectives, the burglary took place at approximately 12:30 a.m. The unidentified man was seen on surveillance video footage riding a tricycle. The suspect drove the tricycle into the parking lot of the apartment building, parked the bike, and walked away. The surveillance cameras then captured the suspect going into a laundry room of the building. A few minutes later, the suspect exited with two large bottles of laundry detergent. He walked to his bike and pedaled away. The suspect is described as a thin-built male, approximately 5’08” tall, 140 to 150 lbs., last seen wearing a black ball cap, white Adidas t-shirt, tan shorts, and glasses.
Seattle Police officers stood just outside Costco's back door waiting for a group of thieves to emerge on March 14, 2018. According to a statement from Seattle Police, “Loss Prevention officers inside the store recognized one of the suspects inside and said he had previously stolen items in the past and run out the fire exit." Officers began to question a woman parked behind an emergency exit when they heard someone trying to open the emergency doors from inside the store. They then apprehended two additional suspects attempting to leave the store with roughly $2,200 in merchandise. One 30-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman, and a 21-year-old woman were all arrested in the incident.
The last victim of the bridge collapse at Florida International University was identified Sunday and a moment of silence was scheduled for Monday. As spring break ends and classes resume, students and staff must deal with traffic challenges.
Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said Saturday morning all victims are expected to be removed from the rubble of the Florida International University pedestrian bridge collapse by the end of the day.
Miami-Dade Police announced Saturday afternoon that crews removed a third car from the rubble of the Florida International University bridge collapse. The goal is to pull all remaining cars and bodies from the debris pile by Saturday night.
