Drivers struggling to travel up icy hill on Manchester Expressway
Columbus police are on the scene of a traffic incident on Manchester Expressway Wednesday morning where drivers headed westbound are struggling to travel up an icy hill near Hamilton Road.
Officers are blocking traffic at the intersection of Manchester Expressway and 17th Avenue and encouraging drivers to turn around.
There is a woman parked in the center lane with her door open. There are vehicles in the westbound lane slowing backing down the hill with the help of other motorists.
Local and state officials are urging drivers to stay off of the roads if possible. The snow on the roadway in that area has melted, leaving ice.
“The best thing we can tell people right now is don’t drive until it heats up," Columbus Police Maj. Charles Kennedy told the Ledger-Enquirer early Wednesday. “Stay off the roads if it all possible.”
