Put on your dancing shoes and bring a hearty appetite as the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation sponsors its annual Parade of Nations and "Cena Tipica" on Sept. 14 at the Columbus Iron Works.
Marilyn Pagan-Seda, one of the organizers of the event, explained that Cena Tipica, roughly translated, means "a typical meal."
And by that she means a typical meal from each country that send soldiers and law officials to the institute.
So there will be more than enough to eat as the institute celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month.
Tickets, which are on sale now, cost $30 for adults and $15 for children between the ages of four and 10. No one under four will be allowed at the event.
Pre-dinner entertainment, both singing and dancing, will be provided by the students and the faculty at the institute, providing the audience with a sampling of the diverse cultures in this region. From Canada to Chile, at least 18 different countries will be represented on stage.
After a buffet meal of various foods from several different regions, there will be music for dancing.
