Call it Krausses of the Holy. Bluegrass star Allison Krauss and proto-metal pioneer Robert Plant, of Led Zeppelin, release today a joint project on Rounder called "Raising Sand."
It's a curious pairing, to be sure. But the two have chosen inersecting material — from the likes of Sam Phillips, Mel Tillis and Gene Clark — and acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett, whose deft touch with Americana made "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" such a success, was at the helm in the studio. It's likely to be worth checking out.
Other CDs new in stores today: Carrie Underwood's "Carnival Ride," Neil Young's "Chrome Dreams II," and Ween's "La Cucaracha."
