Police in Valley, Ala., are investigating a probable bilking situation.
On Tuesday three white males made contact with an elderly man who lives alone in his residence. The subjects were driving a black Dodge pickup and convinced the man that he needed to have a roof coating material applied on his home to prevent the composite shingles from rotting.
The homeowner agreed to let them treat his house and paid the men $1,000 in advance.
Clear liquid was applied and the men left. It was determined that the telephone numbers on the blank receipt were invalid. Additionally, it contained no signatures from any of the company representatives.
The public is being notified to be on the lookout for the men and any such activities.
Anyone with information should contact Inspector Bryan Poe at Valley City Hall, 334-756-3131. or Crimestoppers at 334-756-8200.
