Candidate interviews for the Russell County Schools' superintendency begin tonight at Russell County High School.
Each candidate will attend a meet and greet session with the public at 6:30 p.m., followed by interviews with the school board at 7 p.m. All interviews are open to the public.
Charles Ledbetter, a principal at Councill Middle School in Tallapoosa County, will interview tonight.
Ledbetter, a resident of Dadeville, Ala., was assistant superintendent of Tallapoosa County schools from 2001 to 2005. He has also taught in Tallapoosa County schools.
Never miss a local story.
He received his doctorate in education from Auburn University in 2007.
Ledbetter interviewed for the position of Russell County superintendent during a previous search, after Phil Elder retired in 2004.
He withdrew his name from consideration the day after the interview, stating that his family's ties to Dadeville would make moving to Russell County a difficult decision.
Rebecca Lee was eventually named to the position. Lee is now an associate professor at the Phenix City campus of Troy University.
