Georgians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty and other human rights activists will join the family of Troy Anthony Davis in a vigil tonight calling for justice and fairness as the Georgia Supreme Court weighs new evidence.
The vigil will be at 6 p.m. on the Washington Street Steps of the State Capitol building in Atlanta.
Davis has been on death row for 15 years for the murder of a police officerin Savannah, Ga. No physical evidence was found and several prosecution witnesses have recanted in signed affidavits.
Among the speakers will be State Senator Vincent Ford and the Rev. Timothy McDonald.
