A Columbus man is recovering from gunshot wounds to the right leg and right side of the shoulder that he received Tuesday after giving a ride to two men he picked up on Colorado Street.
About 2:45 p.m., Matthew Rivers, 25, was flagged down by two men who asked for a ride, said Columbus Police Lt. Steve Cox. After Rivers allowed them in his vehicle, both men pulled handguns and told him to hand over his money. A fight ensued and Rivers was shot twice before the men jumped out of his vehicle on Colorado Street near Benner Avenue.
One assailant was described as 18-20 years old, dark complexion, 6-feet tall, 175 pounds, and a short haircut. The other was described as 18-20 years old with a dark complexion, 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, black hat and dreads.
