Rush-hour commuters who regularly cut across the Dillingham Street Bridge may want to take another route Thursday.
The bridge is to be closed 4-8 p.m. for the annual holiday "Night of Lights," according to a street closing application Columbus Council's to vote on Tuesday.
The eighth annual holiday program's to start at 6 p.m. in the Phenix City Amphitheatre, with the lighting of decorations along the Phenix City riverwalk and caroling, dancing, hot chocolate and treats. A fireworks display will follow.
Among the groups performing are the Sherwood Elementary Singers, the Central High School Marching Band, the Just Us Bluegrass Band and the Cimaron Line Dancers. Santa Claus is expected to drop by to help light the riverwalk and set off the fireworks.
