The Russell County Board of Education will hold a work session and called meeting on Thursday, Nov. 28 to discuss the contract for a new superintendent.
The work session will be at 6 p.m., followed by a board meeting at 7 p.m. at Russell County High School.
During the work session, board members will discuss a contract for superintendent candidate Yvette Richardson.
Earlier this month, the board voted 4-3 along racial lines to begin contract negotiations for the position of superintendent with Richardson, an elementary school principal in Fairfield, Ala.
Never miss a local story.
If Richardson accepts the conditions of the contract, she will oversee a school system that educates 3,698 students at eight schools: five elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and one alternative learning center.
The system has a budget of $33 million and employs 481.
All work sessions and board meetings are open to the public.
