The goal of the food drive at the Academic Success Center in Columbus was to collect enough cans to represent every person in the school, about 250.
The principal Marietta Webb agreed to contribute another 250 cans if the goal was reached.
The students surpassed their goal bringing in 431 cans. With Webb's donation, the final number was 681.
The food was given to the Open Door Community House.
