A Phenix City man was found shot to death in his apartment Tuesday night.
The 38-year-old man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of kin, was pronounced dead at 11:26 p.m. at Branchwood Apartments, 1200 20th Avenue, Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. said Wednesday.
Sumbry said the man had been shot once in the head and once in the body, and that he was probably shot around 9 or 10 p.m.
Phenix City Police Capt. Frank Ivey said a telephone call was made to police at 10:41 p.m. that a subject had been shot. Police discovered the body when they arrived at the apartment. Emergency medical personnel also responded, but the man was already dead.
Never miss a local story.
The body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics for an autopsy, Ivey said.
