A Valley, Ala., woman was killed in a one-car wreck Monday evening less than a mile from her home.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced Regina L. McCants, 44, of 222 Lee Road 836, dead at 6:52 p.m. CDST after the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier she was driving apparently ran off the road and flipped.
Harris said an eyewitness reported that McCants went off the roadway and overcorrected. McCants was thrown out of the vehicle, which then landed on top of her upside down, killing her instantly, the coroner said.
McCants apparently was not wearing a seat belt, Harris said.
The accident is still under investigation, according to the Opelika Post, Alabama State Troopers.
