Ten of the 11 people charged with trespassing onto Fort Benning during November's SOA Watch protest have either pleaded or been found guilty today by a federal magistrate.
The 11th, Teri Lynn Rainelli, 25, of Canton, Ohio, will go to trial this afternoon.
Those who pleaded guilty, or agreed to facts about the incident, received sentences ranging from 30 to 90 days in prison and up to a $500 fine.
U.S. Magistrate G. Mallon Faircloth said he would defend anyone's right to peaceably protest, but added the Nov. 18 protest stopped being peaceful when the protesters stepped onto post.
"It's not the trespass law you seek to have repealed," Faircloth said. "It's a very indirect disobedience."
