One force, one fight.
That's the new motto of the Maneuver Center of Excellence created by the marriage of the Army's infantry and armor branches through the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure mandate.
And one might add, one basic training complex — Sand Hill.
At Tuesday's formal groundbreaking on what will eventually be a new barracks complex for Armor recruits, BRAC program manager Jay Brown pointed out that the Armor trainees will indeed live at Harmony Church but will train in soon-to-be constructed facilities on Sand Hill.
Never miss a local story.
"The two basic training battalions that are currently at Fort Knox will be relocated at Sand Hill and integrated with the (infantry) battalions that are already there to form four basic training battalions for the MCOE," said Brown, as he watched the commanding generals of Fort Benning and Fort Knox and representatives of the key contractors break ground at a site near the Ranger Training Brigade.
