Two Chattahoochee Valley Community College employees have received state awards.
CVCC's Workforce Development Director Christine Evans and Howard Paris, a member of the college's support staff each received Chancellor's Awards from the Alabama Community College System.
Evans was named top Administrator in the community college system and Paris was named the top Support Staff member in the system.
Evans works with CVCC's Adult Education initiatives. She wrote a grant for the Alabama Adult Education and Family Literacy Instructional Program to assist people who are deficient in basic skills or have not graduated from high school.
Never miss a local story.
She has also been asked by the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education to teach strategies to adult education directors around the state.
Paris is a member of the Auxiliary Service Department and a CVCC graduate. He contributes time, money and energy to the campus, responding to each employee’s work-related requests.
Each of the two-year colleges in the system may nominate employees in four categories: Administrators, Academic Faculty, Technical Faculty and Support Staff.
CVCC will nominate its 2008 class in a few months.
CVCC’s Susan Young won the Chancellor’s Award for Technical Faculty in 2006. Dixie Peterson won in the same category in 2001.
