Phenix City's Glenwood School has been academically reaccredited by the Commission on Secondary and Middle Schools of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The accreditation, which will be official in March 2009, means that Glenwood's academic standards continue to meet criteria established by SACS and when Glenwood seniors apply to college, they can list their school as SACS accredited.
The reaccreditation is the result of a five-year assessment report and school improvement plan.
A review team from SACS also visited the school March 12 and 13 to meet with faculty, staff, students and parents and found Glenwood to be in compliance with all seven conditions of eligibility for membership.
"As a result of our self-study efforts, school personnel in both the lower and upper schools have a plan for the future of Glenwood," Steve Tarno, Glenwood's upper school principal, said in a press release.
