Columbus native Greg Allmendinger has been named market president of Wachovia Bank.
The promotion was effective today.
Allmendinger is now responsible for growth in the Columbus market, where Wachovia is No. 2 behind Columbus Bank & Trust. Wachovia's market share is 14.8 percent compared to nearly CB&T's nearly 56 percent.
Allmendinger, who has been a banker in Columbus since 1979 — his entire career — replaces Alicia Laramy, who has been market president since March 2003. She now moves to Atlanta, where she will take the position of senior business banking relationship manager effective April 16.
