The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is continuing its inspection of anchor rods that support the six spillway gates at West Point Dam.
During a routine five year inspection it was determined that some of the anchor rods that secure the spillway gates needed repairs.
There is no danger to the public.
Vehicle traffic on the roadway across the dam will be affected this week. Huge cranes will be in use and signs will be posted at each end to let drivers know if the road is open or closed.
Alternate routes across the river are the U.S. Highway 29 Bridge in West Point, Ga. and the Georgia Highway 109 Bridge near LaGrange, Ga.
